Education/Interests

During my time at Morris I was able to earn a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and Spanish and a minor in Gender, Women and Sexuality studies. I also worked at the Admissions Office where I discovered how much I enjoy working with students and my passion for higher education! Among all the madness of classes, work and student organizations, I was also able to somehow work sports into my schedule. I've run Cross Country and Track for about half of my life, so it was a great opportunity to be able to continue here. Some of my best friends to this day are those I met on the team or through sports in general. In my free time, I also love doing crafts, reading and especially cooking!

Why Morris?

Having grown up in the city, I always thought I would be a big city girl all my life. Little did I know my small town roots would get me where I needed to be! Before I even visited, I could tell Morris was a great fit for me. Everyone I had spoken to was very helpful and friendly. In my case, character and kindness truly went a long way! I had the best undergrad experience I could have ever asked for, and now, I am delighted to be a Morris staff member.

Education/Interests

I graduated from Gustavus Adolphus College in 2006 with a Math major and earned a secondary ed teaching license.  During my four years, I was a trackster, orientation leader, and a PR person with alumni and friend of the college.  I also held down a few different jobs -- telecounselor, barista, movie theatre cashier, accompanist, and admissions student worker.  Today, I've just wrapped up my Master's in Education, and I love spending time with my husband and three kids.

Why Morris?

I've always loved working with students, and admissions provided me with the opportunity to do so in a way I hadn't considered. Morris is fantastic institution that opens doors to tons of opportunities while providing a personal, small-town atmosphere. I am in awe of our students... they do amazing things and I'm lucky enough to have a front row seat to their success!

Education/Interests

I graduated from the University of Minnesota, Morris in 2010 with a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and English. I also served as a community adviser in the residence halls for 2 years and after graduating I put my degrees and experience to work as a residential counselor at a boarding school in Aurora, Illinois. I'm a kid at heart so in my free time I watch cartoons, take my bike out for a ride, or play board or trading card games.

Why Morris?

My older sister went to Morris, and while visiting her I came to appreciate the community, it's enthusiasm and inclusiveness, and it's diversity of interests. My two younger brothers both graduated from Morris too, so it's become a bit of a family tradition. Plus because the campus is small, it's super easy to get involved on campus and try out new things. In my tenure as a student I joined a bunch of different clubs, helped choose which movies to show on campus, created a parade float, facilitated Humans vs. Zombies, had my own radio show, did research, and played in the inaugural season of Morris Quidditch.

Education/Interests

I graduated from Morris in 2010 with a double major in Math and Computer Science and a minor in Statistics. Sounds exciting, right? As a student, I really enjoyed spending time in lots of student activities and dominating intramural sports… Oh whoops. Did I say dominating? I meant clumsily tripping over my own feet... a lot. But that didn't stop me from having a great time. I loved all of the amazing opportunities that Morris gave to get involved inside and outside of the classroom and all of the people I met along the way.

Why Morris?

I went to another college for a year and found out it wasn't a great fit for me, but while visiting a friend at Morris, I discovered that my perfect school had been there all along-I just hadn't visited it yet. Morris hit me as the kind of unique place that everyone supports each other in whatever endeavor they take on. The people from the campus and the community are friendly and helpful and everyone is here to help you succeed. How could I turn it down? I came here the next year and haven't left since!

Education/Interests

I graduated from Morris with Bachelor of Arts degrees in Sociology and Human Services and also have minors in Psychology and Women's Studies. While at Morris, I was a member of the Cougar volleyball team, played intramural sports, worked with the Violence Prevetion Program, and participated in Big Friend Little Friend. These days, I spend my free time with my husband, Brady (UMM '09) and our two awesome children, Kyson and Blakely. I also enjoy playing in rec leagues, running, camping, and bakng.

Why Morris?

I was continuously asking big questions in high school because I wanted to know more about why the world around me worked the way it did. Unfortunately, digging for those answers wasn't always encouraged. I knew that UMM would provide the avenue and backing for me to dive into those and even broader questions. I wanted to belong to a campus where I could feel like I was a large part of making a positive change to the community and world around me. At the same time, I was not looking for a place where I would feel overwhelmed by the masses. Morris offered the big world perspective in a small, safe atmosphere. And, the fact that it was in my own back yard was just icing on the cake.

Education/Interests

I graduated from the University of Minnesota, Morris in 2010. I entered college as a Liberal Arts for the Human Services major and added Sociology as a second major after being hooked by my first Sociology course! My best memories from college include being a member of Dance Ensemble, serving as a Community Adviser in Gay Hall, and of course enjoying a grilled cheese sandwich with friends at Don's Cafe. Currently, you can find me working out at the gym or baking up a sweet treat. :-)

Why Morris?

I chose UMM because I was looking for a public liberal arts school for a well rounded education, and this University clearly had so much to offer with an exceptional reputation. I knew Morris was a great fit for me with such friendly and truly helpful people. I love that when you walk down the sidewalk, you always receive a smile or "hello" whether you know that person or not.

Education/Interests

I graduated from Morris with a double major in Psychology and Liberal Arts for the Human Services, as well as a minor in Sociology. As a student, I enjoyed being involved on campus and have fond memories of being a Campus Ambassador as well as Dance Ensemble Co-chair. These days I enjoy staying active, traveling, reading, and spending time with my friends and family.

Why Morris?

When I was in high school, my mom convinced me to visit campus. Morris had never really been on my radar until then. Thank goodness for my mom, because I ended up loving it after the first visit. I initially thought I wanted to attend a large school, but I realized that everything I was really looking for was right here at UMM. As a student, I thrived in an active campus community where the professors really took the time to get to know me and listened to what I had to say. I guess moms really do know best!

Education/Interests

I graduated from Morris in 2014 with a major in History. While a student I stayed busy with student government, playing drums in the jazz ensembles and leading the campus improv group, Breakfast for Dinner. I still keep busy playing music and improvising but have also come to love slowing things down by going out on the lake or sitting by a bonfire.

Why Morris?

The first time I came to Morris was attending the annual Jazz Fest as a high school student. I, with a little prodding from my dad, recognized Morris as a place that I could pursue my passion for music while receiving a world class education in a friendly, engaged community. Morris is a campus that cares for its students and sets them up not just to be successful but to find their passion and live full, rich lives.

Education/Interests

I graduated from the University of Minnesota, Morris in 2006 with a Bachelor of Arts in Music.  I spent almost ten years after college teaching private piano lessons, doing accompanying work, and serving in metro area churches as a pianist and worship band leader.  I recently moved back to the Morris area to be closer to family and am thrilled to be working at UMM, where I have so many great memories!  My interests are mostly coffee and anything related to coffee, although my two dogs, Ernie and Ollie, are a close second!  I dabble in watercolor and acrylic painting, and love chocolate, so I usually have a pan of brownies in my house at any given time.

Why Morris?

I chose Morris because it was a close-knit community that became my family during my time as a student.  The friends I made and the professors I met changed the direction of my life and made me a more well-rounded and confident person.  The support and one-on-one attention at Morris is amazing, and if I had the chance to do it all over again, I would still choose UMM.
